Hi,
I am a Convention Refugee and I got a letter from CIC on June 29,2005 stated that final desicion has been made and Scarborough office will contact me.
There was no time limit and it's been almost 2 months and I am still waiting for their reply.
My questions are:
(1)Do I need a passport to finalize my PR card or any identity documents, because I don't have a Passport or any travel documents.
(2)When Scarborough office will contact me?
Last week I called CIC and they said that within 90 days they will contact me.
If you have any information please reply me, I'll be very thankful to you.
Regards Alam

They will call u anytime.. Normaly it takes 2 months..
In some cases if u don't have a passaport you can bring any orther doc u have.. like birth certificate, drive licence.. anything u listed on your aplication.
After u get your PR Status u can go to your Embassy and get a new passport

Hi,
This may alleviate your fears a little bit, but my family and I are also Convention Refugees and applied for Permanent Residence card on July 2004. We received confirmation of an appointment with the CIC Mississauga office about 2 weeks ago. So basically it took them a little over a year with us, but it's essential that one must be VERY patient when it comes to the CIC. Hopefully that helps a little bit...[;)] -M

Hi Alam, Today is exactly one year that I have been applied for PR in Canada and finaly I got a letter today from Scharborough CIC saying that I have to be there for my interwiev on 15-10-2005 which is Saturday. this is kind of strange for me. I am not sure if they work on Saturday? Do you know anything about it? Did you hear anything from them about your application? Please let me know if you hear anything or you know that they work in the weekend? Thanks Ileyda

Hi Alam, I think we do not have to $975.00 because we are convention refugees. If you read the paragraph which is talking about the convention refugees you would be able to understand what you have to bring with you. As I understood we do not have to pay them anything but we better make sure and call CALL CENTRE 1-888-242-2100 And I called the Immigration and they told me that Scarborough CIC may work on Saturdays if they are very busy. GOOD LUCK to you too. Let me know if you know anything else. ileyda
