I'm sponsoring my partner from bosnia...but because I'm not yet PR. I sent it with my application together for permanent resident and they say when they process mine in alberta vegerville they gonna process his. Is that correct?
And I'm confussed with processing times on CIC page I lookd today and it say 6-7 months step 1-working on applications received up to September 11, 2011. I sent our application on january 2012. when can I start to count the months? The day when I sent application or when on cic process times page be writen january 2012.
I'm a bit confused, as I don't think you can sponsor someone until you are yourself a landed immigrant.
As for timeline, the one given on the CIC website is simply an indication of how long it took CIC to process applications in the past. It will eventually be updated, but it is what it is: just general timelines.

The OP is probably applying as either a protected person or refugee, so includes his/her partner in the application. Start counting the months when Vegreville received the application. 6/7 months for the first step 10 months for the second.
