Hiya Reddy,

To search for a place to rent look take a look at the information in this article.

How can I find housing or an apartment to rent?
http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000082

In it you'll find links to classified listings, information about the decision making process and other related articles.

Your question regarding monthly expenses for a middle class family of four is a difficult one to answer because it would depend on area in which you lived and your lifestyle.

My best advice is that you read this Settlement.Org article:

What are monthly living expenses for family of three?
http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000204

It will provide you with some valuable insight.

For a single room (furnished or unfurnished) in Toronto, of which York is a part, you can expect to pay an average of $450.00 - $500.00.

[A single room is different than a 'bachelor' or 1 bedroom apartment. You can expect to pay 700$ for bachelor and more for a 1 bedroom in most parts of the city.]

For more on rental prices see:

What are the average monthly rents for apartments across Ontario?

For information on buying a house, see our article:
How to Buy a House

If anyone is currently in a similar situation please feel free to share your experience with Reddy. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
