Hi,
I made my first entry to Canada on 31st of July 2009 along with my son. I had given my cousin's address when we made our landing. We had to leave by end of august with our SIN cards, due to a family emergency though our PR card had not yet been deliverd. My cousin called me today to inform me that a letter had been sent stating that my photo did not match their specs for my pr card. And that i was either to go to their office to have a photo taken or hand in photos meeting their specs in person.
Since I am out of Canada, is there any way around this? Is there anyway that I can post my photos to their address so that the card gets sent to my cousin and she mails the card to me?
please help

Probably not. The common sense reason for this is probably that were you to mail in the photos, there wouldn't be a way for CIC to ensure that the person on the photo is you.
This is unfortunate for you. You may need to spend $50 to get a travel document (unless you can drive from the US) if you decide to come back within the next 6 months to provide them with the photo (plus the cost of the trip, unless you were planning to return anyway)
And if you don't provide a photo within the next 6 months you'll have to reapply for the card (another $50)
On the bright side if you go to their office they'll take your picture for free! Some places in TO charge $15 for that, so it's not all bad, eh? :-)))))

Seeing that making a trip to Canada would cost me at least $1000 per person... I would rather post it, if only that option were available. As proof of "I am who I say I am", couldn't I post attested copies of my passport and any other id i have?
Q. You mentioned that if i choose not to go within 6 months, i would have to reapply for my PR card. I am planning to return to Canda next year, after my son completes his high school. Does this mean that I don't have to hassle myself about this immediately. But instead come back with a Travel document next year and re-apply for my PR card?
Would appreciate a reply. :)

I am sure you could, but it's not me you have to convince. CIC does it their own way

Thanks! I plan to do just that. Managed to get through to CIC, but as impaler said, they were the ones to be convinced... but they weren't. They said that they applicant has to come in person!
I have another question now: Can a permanent resident working abroad, sponsor his/her spouse?

Hi,
I applied for the PR card renewal. From the online status i found that my application was approved on SEP 24TH and i will receive my card within 4 weeks. So i called the CIC on Oct 22nd and they told me that they will send the request to Processing centre Sydney. After two weeks i called them again and they suggest me that to send a fax. I send the fax and i recieved a e-mai from them. In the e-mail they replied that they send the request to CIC processing centre Sydney to speed up the process.
I travelling to India on Dec 10 and coming back on 25 th Jan 2010.
Do you guys have any idea how these approval in canada will help to get travel document in India? Please advise
Siva
