I hope this will help some one. Below is my Timeline leading to taking Citizenship Oath.

Sent mail on the 29th of July in 2013

A) We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on August 2, 2013.

B) We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 2, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
i) I have added a pdf of the same book for you to read on iPad, iPhone, etc
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/discover.pdf

C) We started processing your application on October 12, 2013.
i) I later received a letter from CIC requesting I do fingerprints through RCMP on the 7th of February, & the letter was dated 4 February. The fingerprints had to be done not later than 4 April, 2014. I did fingerprints on the 3rd of March.

D) We sent you a notice on May 29, 2014 to appear and write the citizenship test on June 16, 2014 at 1:30 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.
i) I wrote the test that was scheduled 30 minutes time limit. I finished the test just under 3 minutes. They marked my test immediately and got 20/20. Citizenship Officer there asked I show original Landing document, my PR card plus my passport + birth certificate. I carried every other document I had including Health Card, Driver's License.
ii) The time with Citizenship Officer took about 10 minutes and she told me everything looked good with me. Asked about my progress throughout my stay in Ontario and what I did while unemployed, etc.
iii) Finally, Citizenship Officer told me I was free to go and I would receive a letter asking me to appear and take the Citizenship Oath between 2 to 3 months.

E) Surprisingly, I received a letter on the 23rd of June, 2014 to appear and take Citizenship oath on the 7th of July, 2014.

NOTES: this process might have taken longer if I had criminal records or if they had RQ'ed me. There are many factors which could slow down the process, but I was lucky.

Patience is success.

Hi Machoman,

I'm very happy for you.
Our case was similar up until the wait for the oath part.
We sent the doc in May 2013 and passed the exam in December 2013. But instead the oath got the RQ and now we're waiting since April 2014.

Anyone with similar story?
looking for some info on RQ after the test...

Thanks,
