Dear Sir/Madam

I have been living in Canada since July 2009; we got our PR cards 1 month after landing. I have been living alone with my kid, as my husband lives back home to cater for his parents needs and provide for us.

We first lived in Vancouver for 3 1/2 year, then moved to Montreal in November 2012, where we (my two children whom were by then 18 and 20 years of age),

We mailed our citizenship application November 23, 2012. We were sent an invitation to do the citizenship test, 1 year later for the 23 Dec 2013. After doing the citizenship test, passing it, and were congratulated by the interviewer, and were told that we are going to do the oath in two months.

He came out and told me to return to the room and handed me an RQ form.

I called the Citizenship office and complained about my interviewer, and then changed my mind and cancelled my complained.

Then they called me back over three times and advised me to pursue my complaint, but I was afraid that my interviewer will use that against me but they insisted that that was right so I pursued it.

I have sent them all the documents needed on 7th January 2014? Because my interviewer claimed that he was doing me a favor and would be looking at my papers as soon as he gets back from the new year holiday.

So far, I have heard nothing from them.

How long does it take to hear anything back?

Is the delay a good or bad sign?

Your response is highly appreciated

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

We can appreciate that you would be concerned about your timeline.

From what we have heard from several CIC representatives and many of our Settlement.Org Discussion Forum users, it can take up to an additional 48 months when the completion of an RQ is requested.

We hope that others can share some suggestions and timelines with you.

You may also want to read some of our other users' experiences in our previous Settlement.Org What is the Timeframe after Citizenship Test & RQ? Discussion Thread.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions and if there is any follow up to your question/situation.

Thank you Anna, appreciate ur response. The sad part is that lawyers here , Montreal, abuse these situations and try to extract so much money to handle such cases. so I have refused to fall victim to their greed, for I have been more than honest and the law should be on my side without the use of lawyers
