Eyecare

Even if your vision is fine, you are encouraged to have regular eye examinations. The Ontario Health Insuranc Plan (OHIP) covers eye examinations by a licensed optometrist once every two years.

How can I find eyecare services?
An optometrist examines, diagnoses, treats and prevents diseases and disorders of the eye. There are a few ways to find an optometrist.

How do I pay for eyecare services?
Routine eye exams, provided by either an optometrist or physician, for patients aged 20 to 64 are no longer covered by OHIP. OHIP does not pay for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
