Buying leeks at a Farmer's Market

Setting: Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square. It's the outdoor farmer's market open Wednesdays from May - September.

Good morning. Try a sample of my garden tomatoes

Okay, thanks. Mmm. They taste good!

I have a special today on leeks.

What are leeks?

Leeks are sweet onions grown in the spring in Ontario.

How do I cook them?

You can make leek soup or add them to other vegetable dishes.

How much?

One ninety-nine per bunch.

One bunch please. Here's a toonie.

Here's your change, and here's your leeks. Here is a recipe for leek soup.

You can try adding fresh herbs like parsley or dill.
