Going Swimming at the Pool

= Parent      = Child

It’s thirty degrees outside. Let’s go swimming today

I’m hot. I can’t wait to go to the pool!

There’s a family swim at 2 pm. Can you get ready in 10 minutes?

Yes, I can.

Okay, get your towel and swimsuit.

I’m ready.  I have my swim goggles too.

Good. Let’s go to the pool!

Setting: Later, at the pool

Noreena, please walk don’t run.

Yes, Dad.  Can I go in the deep end?

No, you can’t. Sit down and wait for me.

Can I go in the shallow end?

Not without a lifeguard here. Come with me, please.

Okay, Dad.

Please hold my hand.

What?

Noreena, hold my hand and stay with me.

Okay. Look, there’s a lifeguard!

Yes, I see. Are you ready to go in the pool?

Uh-hmm. I’m ready.

Shallow end only. Okay? Oh, the water’s nice and cool!
