Some May Highlights:
- May 11 - Mother's Day (Canada, US, more): A day to honour and celebrate mothers.
- May 19 - Victoria Day (Canada): This holiday is named in honour of Queen Victoria - the former queen of England. Victoria day is always celebrated on a Monday, and in Ontario, many people think of this long weekend as the unofficial start of summer. It is also commonly called "May 2-4" weekend. Victoria Day is a statutory holiday in Ontario.
- May 20 - Buddha Day / Veshak (Buddhist): On this annual holiday, practicing Buddhists pay homage to Buddha. This year, some countries will celebrate Buddha's Birthday on May 12.
International Days of Importance
- May 1 - International Workers' Day / May Day: In many countries, this is a day to celebrate workers' rights and the achievements that the labour movement has made on behalf of workers.
