An accounting designation is an abbreviation of an accounting title. Examples of accounting designations are CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CA (Chartered Accountant, and CGA (Certified General Accountant). An accounting designation may only be used by individuals who are accredited members of the body that has regulatory authority for the designation.
