Accounting in Ontario
In Ontario, anyone can use the title "accountant." There are three types of recognized professional accountants. These are accountants with an accounting designation who belong to a recognized professional accounting body. They are:
- Chartered Accountants (CAs)
- Certified General Accountants (CGAs)
- Certified Management Accountants (CMAs)
In order to use any of these three accounting designations, you need to be a member of the professional accounting body that offers the designation.
