Bridge-to-Work Training
Halton Multicultural Council, in partnership with Certified General Accountants of Ontario, offer internationally educated accountants a “bridge” to CGA’s Level 2 course in business communication (CM1).
This is a 20-week government-funded program that prepares participants for the CGA business communication challenge examination. The course is free and takes place during evening hours and on Saturdays in Oakville, just west of Toronto. You do not need to be a resident of Oakville to be eligible.
As a participant in this course, you will have access to employment counseling, training in accounting software (including Simply Accounting, Quickbooks, and Excel), a payroll seminar, networking opportunities with professional accountants, and support in finding a work placement. A work placement is a paid or unpaid short-term (four weeks to six months) work experience with a reputable employer. A work placement can help you overcome the barrier of “no Canadian work experience.”
To be eligible to participate in this program, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
- score 7+ on a Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test
- have received from CGA your Transfer Credit Evaluation Report and not have received a transfer credit for the business communication course (CM1)
