University Degree
In order to be accredited as a Certified General Accountant in Ontario, you must have a university degree from a recognized university. A recognized university is one that grants a degree that is considered by CGA Ontario to be equivalent to a degree granted by a Canadian university. Your degree can be in any field. If you already have a university degree, CGA Ontario will evaluate your university transcripts to determine if your education meets the CGA degree requirement.
If you don’t have a university degree, or if your education does not meet the CGA degree requirement, you can still begin the CGA qualification process. However, you must complete a recognized university degree before you can be accredited as a CGA.
