Steps to Employment Manuals

The Steps to Employment workshop manuals include a workbook for participants, notes for instructors, and an implementation guide. Use the links below to download the documents.

Each sector provides information for many different occupations. If you are not sure which employment sector is related to your occupation, click here for an alphabetical listing of occupations and job titles and their sectors.

All manuals are in PDF format - Adobe Acrobat Reader will be required to open and print the documents. If you do not already have this software, click here to download and install it.

Workbooks
The Workbooks are organized into ten units and a glossary. The first five units contain basic orientation to the sector in Ontario. Units 6 to 9 introduce occupation-specific terminology and workplace communication. The final unit contains a self-assessment form and activities to guide the participants in setting short-term goals.

Instructor Guide
The Instructor Guide is a framework for instruction that includes sources for background information on the sector, teaching strategies appropriate to the content of the workshops, a guide to the activities in the workbook, including answer keys, and a list of authentic materials to use for each unit.

Implementation Guide
The Implementation Guide is common to all manuals and provides a model for planning and delivering the workshops. It includes suggested selection criteria, sample placement tools, sample certificates, strategies for recruiting participants and instructors, ideal specifications for the selection of locations, and a planning checklist.
