Libraries have many programs. It is easy to get involved!

This short video explains how you can:

  • Get a library card
To get a library card, you need one piece of official identification such as your Immigration documents. And you need proof of your address such as a bank statement, a rental lease, drivers' license or a utility bill.
  • Participate in storytelling
Storytelling helps young children get ready for school. Look for flyers or ask a librarian for the day and time of storytelling in your library. Anyone can come but it is very popular so you may have to register ahead of time.
  • Join the Summer Reading Club
Your library has special programs to help elementary school students keep up their reading in the summer. It's called the Summer Reading Club and it's easy to join. All your child has to do is go to the library and complete a form. And regular reading over the summer keeps your child’s reading skills sharp. It gives him or her a strong start to school in September.
  • Find out about the services at your library, such as books and videos, language classes and more
